Pak Thae Song, member of the Presidium of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea and premier of the Cabinet of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea, inspected various sectors of the national economy.

 The premier called upon the Kumsong Tractor Factory and the Kangso Engine Accessory Factory to further improve the machining accuracy and quality of products by actively introducing advanced science and technology and push ahead with the development and production of effective farm machines of various kinds so as to uphold with high production results the Party's idea on continuously raising the proportion of the farm work done by machines.

 He acquainted himself in detail with the steel tower production process for super-high voltage transmission line and the operation of equipment at the transmission line laying station. And he underlined the need to unconditionally implement the task planned for this year by effectively utilizing the existing production capability and show special care for the employees' living in conformity with the features of the unit which has lots of itinerant work to do.

 At the Pyongyang Bearing Factory, the premier called on its officials and workers to intensify the drive for increased production in the same spirit as displayed to over-fulfill the first quarterly national economic plan and further raise the actual output ratio and the quality of bearings by steadily strengthening the sci-tech force of the factory.

 Visiting the State General Bureau of Design, he said that the bureau should produce more new and peculiar architectural designs symbolic of the era of great prosperity in construction by updating the design means and positively introducing advanced design methods, true to the noble intention of the Party Central Committee, and fulfill its mission as a powerful design guidance organ by improving the ability of designers and intensifying the training of talents and the guidance over design and the assessment system.

 The premier visited the Unjom Farm in Singye County of North Hwanghae Province to learn in detail about the growth of earlier wheat and burley and called for reaping a good harvest in the production of early-ripening crops by manuring and tending them in a responsible way. He also called upon the agricultural guidance organs at all levels to direct efforts to the farming in intermediate and mountainous area.

 Then he learned about the preparation for operating a new wheat processing factory built in the county and took such practical steps for its normal operation as the reinforcement of transport means and the improvement of employees' technical knowledge and skills.

 The field consultative meetings discussed the issue of giving precedence to the supply of products under contract and materials needed for the production of farm machines and the laying of super-high voltage transmission lines and establishing a proper system to provide the workers involved in laying transmission lines with better living conditions, the issue of further strengthening the foundation for bearing production, the issue of steadily improving the design assessment work, etc.
