Illumination Festival Opens

An illumination festival was opened in the capital city of Pyongyang on April 14 in celebration of the 110th birth anniversary of President Kim Il Sung.

Amid the playing of odes in praise of the Sun and to motherland, artistic pictures of fascinating light were unfolded to decorate the festival venue conspicuously.

When slogan boards and animations were presented in high buildings around the Tower of the Juche Idea and different shapes of light including sunbeam-like light were emanated, citizens shouted for joy ceaselessly in great excitement.

Dancing fountains sprang up rhythmically on the surface of the Taedong River, where seven-coloured brilliant illuminations were reflected and distinctively-decorated excursion boats and yachts crossed each other skilfully, adding more to the festive mood.

Colourful decorative illuminations were installed in a concentrated manner on green areas around grand stairs of Kim Il Sung Square to elicit the distinctive mood of night.

The citizens were deeply impressed by the decorations representing the President’s birthplace at Mangyongdae, Mt Paektu, the sacred mountain of the revolution, Chollima Statue and national symbols in formative and artistic representation.

People spent a good time while coming and going arch-style decorations gorgeous with light letters to have impressive photos and video images.

The illumination festival lasts until April 17.
