DPRK Premier Inspects Agricultural Sector of South Hwanghae Province

Kim Tok Hun, member of the Presidium of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea, vice-president of the State Affairs Commission of the DPRK and premier of the Cabinet, inspected the agricultural sector of South Hwanghae Province.

Learning in detail about the cereal production at farms in Paechon, Yonan, Chongdan and Sinwon counties, the premier said that the agricultural officials in the province should carry on the farming operation and guidance in a more responsible manner without relaxing their strain, mindful of the importance of the province's task in implementing the Party's agricultural policy.

He stressed the need to ensure threshing, drying and storing, an important farming process in concluding a year's farming, in a qualitative way so as to prevent even the loss of a grain and to put efforts into the cultivation of autumn wheat and barley.

He called for upholding the policy for bringing about a radical turn in seed improvement and widely introducing the advanced farming methods whose advantages have been proved in practice to steadily increase the grain yield, and for pushing forward with the work to readjust and reinforce and perfect the irrigation system in a far-sighted way to cope with the abnormal weather conditions.

The field consultative meetings discussed the issue of making next year's farming preparations such as securement of farming materials under a well thought-out plan and the issue of conducting on a sci-tech basis the work for providing wheat and barley crops with nutritive conditions for winter, before adopting relevant steps.

Meanwhile, the premier visited the Phyongsong Artificial Leather Factory to learn about the development of new products and take a relevant measure.
